As I walked home after my class today, an idea hit me for a new scene in my novel that I had not thought of before. Watching the season premiere of Barry’s fourth and final season sparked it. Creativity works in mysterious ways, and I know Julia Cameron’s advice is true because my “artist’s date” in watching Barry, a show I am enthralled by created by a man whose creativity, comedy, and artistic vision I respect, is what created this new scene. It also makes one of my main characters interact with a significant person from his past who has betrayed, neglected, and abused him.
