The Bell Jar and Know My Name -- Our First Two Books for Our 2025 Feminist Book Club
Plan to Launch our Feminist Book Club in March or April 2025
The votes are in! Our first novel will be The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath. Once we finish our first novel, we will then read and discuss our first memoir Know My Name by Chanel Miller.
My plan is to have our book club run for several weeks where specific chapters will be assigned each week. Before the book club launches next year, I plan to send out notifications for anyone interested in joining the book club.
My inspiration for this is
’s Slow Read book club that he runs at his Substack newsletter footnotes & tangents. Our titles are not slow reads, but when I joined his War and Peace slow read this year (that I had to regrettably put on pause because of my health issues; next year for sure), I liked his set up and how he engaged with readers. Now I just need to figure out how to set up our feminist book club like he sets up his slow read book club: sign-up links, chat, and other goodies.Regarding my own health, I am happy to let everyone know that my husband’s insurance approved Botox for my chronic and disabling migraines. I’ve spent the past two days on the phone with the pharmaceutical company and the rep for the savings plan at the specialty pharmacy that will send the medication directly to my migraine’s doctor office. I am hopeful that Botox will be the medication that significantly reduces my migraines.
My newsletter will return on Tuesday September 17. Again I am so grateful for your patience and support.
Laura- Bell Jar is such a great title. I appreciate you sharing this. Hope you’re well this week? Cheers, Thalia
What a coincidence. Recently I found a great used book store on line. I ordered some books I recall reading right before I busted out of where I was stagnating. Love In The Time of Cholera, Virginia Wolfe short stories, Picture of Doriane Gray and The Bell Jar for starters.
