Four Palestinian and Israeli Writers to Introduce Yourself To

News from Israel and Gaza has made me physically ill. This destruction should nauseate any person. Sadly though because of constant war and trauma, we can grow numb to it. Not helping that numbness is the minimization or outright elimination of the humanities and the arts. These result in not only diminishing our creative and critical thinking but empathy for our fellow human beings.
The history and politics of Palestine and Israel are too complex to address here. Good books to consult if you would like to learn more about the conflict’s history are the Routledge Handbook on the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict and the Routledge Companion to the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict. Years ago I watched the following documentary Promises & Betrayals: Britain and the Struggle for the Holy Land to better understand the history and roots of the violence Israeli and Palestinian civilians have been subjected to this week.
