It was a younger female doctor who eventually figured it out. And in hindsight the first doctor, who was an accomplished specialist in his field, may have missed the right diagnosis because he was so set in his ways and may have not been the best listener.

Lyme Disease is such a terrible disease that often is misdiagnosed as autoimmune. Insurance in the U.S. does not even cover it. Kathleen Hannah from Bikini Kill has it. I watched a documentary on her years ago. I think she's married to Mike D from the Beastie Boys. He's so kind and understanding.

My sister-in-law has been suffering from rare tick borne disease for decades. Only diagnosed recently. She was bitten in Northern California.

My wife has something called MADSAM, which thins out the nerve linings. We're lucky that insurance covers the treatments––IVIG. So far it's made progress in reversing the damage.

Insurance should certainly cover Lyme disease.
